Jumpstarts biggest and most important asset is our teaching teams, passionate kaiako that make it their life’s mission to support children through their early years, ensuring they get the very best beginning to their educational journey. 

Each Jumpstart centre has a large number of approachable, professional educators committed to supporting you and your child through your ECE experience.  We have a fantastic beginning teacher programme where our new graduates have access to professional teachers with a myriad of strengths not just within their own team but within the entire Jumpstart Whanau.  We are dedicated to buidling teachers capabilities and provide lots of opportunities for professional development and review for improvement. 

80% REGISTERED TEACHERS & LOW TEACHER : CHILD RATIO

The government minimum for a licensed ECE centre is 50% registered teachers, we are fortunate enough to have a large pool of experienced qualified teachers so our centres sit above 80%.  This is unusal in todays climate with a shortage of both primary and ECE teachers.

The government ratios are 1:5 for children under 2 and 1:10 for children over 2. 

At Jumpstart we roster 1:3 and 1:7 however with teachers taking breaks and non-contact time we sit with an ‘on the floor’ ratio of 1:4 and 1:8. 

It is our policy that we will exceed Ministry of Education expectations therefore we aim for a staff to child ratio of 1:8 for 2 – 5 year olds and 1:4 for under 2s.

Operations Manager Amy Fale is responsible for the effective running of all centres and to the Ministry of Education. Each centre has a Principal Teacher who is responsible for the day to day running of the education and care programmes.

We encourage staff to undertake various forms of professional development. We provide the time and money to enable teachers to improve their skills and update their knowledge, keeping them stimulated and motivated.

This ensures we provide up to date education and care programmes and practices and maintain exceptional standards.
