Meet the Team
Anita is a Qualified NZ Registered Teacher. She has worked as an ECE Teacher for 4 years.
As Centre Manager Anita is responsible for the day to day running of the centre, she supervises the teachers, ensures our policies and procedures are adhered to and leads our curriculum planning and assessment.
Anita is a natural leader and ensures her team operates at an extremely high level at all times. Our centre relies heavily on parent / caregiver communication and the development of strong reciprocal relationships; this is where Anita’s strength lies. Parents, Caregivers and Whanau members find confidence in her warm, professional nature and appreciate the high quality personalized care Anita and her Team provide.
Paula Van Winkle
Paula is a qualified, registered teacher and has experience in both the Early Childhood and Primary sectors. Paula has been involved in children’s education and care for 20+ years both in New Zealand and South Africa. As Team Leader Paula provides support to centre Manager, Anita. Paula also draws from her pool of knowledge and experience to mentor our graduate students through our Support and Guidance Programme for provisionally registered teachers.
Kelly has a Bachelor of Education 'Early Years 0-8' qualification and uses her broad knowledge to run our 'Transition to School Classroom' Programme. She is an extremely dedicated and hard working member of our team. Kelly is passionate about the early stages of formal learning and making the transition to school a smooth one for the children. Cat has recently completed a degree in Early Childhood Education and is now working towards her Full NZ teacher’s registration.
Cat is passionate about working with children; she likes to challenge them with lots of physical activities and is particularly interested in promoting the links between physical activity and formal learning. Cat is a natural nurturer; children are drawn to her fun, caring nature.
Hannah is a Provisionally Registered ECE teacher who has been working in the profession for 4 years. Hannah is very artistic and is our expert 'Face Painter'. She loves nature and the outdoors and is always on the lookout for fun outdoor activities to involve the children in, like gardening and pruning.
Nikki is a qualified, experienced ECE teacher - she works part time at Jumpstart. Nikki is passionate about following children’s interests and is always prepared with fun new activities to inspire and challenge our children. Nikki is most comfortable in the art area but also loves science and technology.
Alesha has just completed a Degree in ECE through Canterbury University, she has worked at Jumpstart for the past 3 years and is the ‘go to’ teacher when children are looking for some fun outdoors or some creative time at the art tables. Alesha offers children challenging activities that reflect their current interests and inspires them to extend their skills and knowledge.
Clare has worked part time at Jumpstart Preschool since it opened in 2007. Clare is a mother of 4 and enjoys meeting the needs of all children especially our youngest ones.
You will often find Clare providing one on one time in the reading corner, giving lots of cuddles and supporting our new children as they settle in.
Marcia is new to the Jumpstart teaching team. Marcia has recently completed post graduate Early Childhood Training after discovering that the corporate world of accounting was not her thing. She is a bubbly and fun team member who enjoys all aspects of working with children, she is energetic and is always keen to respond to children’s interests and needs especially in our outdoor environment.
Rebecca is our Full Time Office Administrator; she is responsible for all enrolments and accounts as well as a large number of other admin tasks. Rebecca is extremely customer focussed and prides herself on her efficiency. Rebecca's daughter Rosa (4) attends Jumpstart so Rebecca experiences both sides of the desk helping to ensure that our policies and practices are user friendly.

Kate is our 'Hygiene and Nutrician Technician'. She has the extremely busy job of providing fresh, nutritious snacks to all of our children while maintaing a safe and hygienic environment. Kate is also an aromatherapist and is passionate about organic living and natural therapies. She has 4 children (Chloe 14, Hayley 12, Zara 8 and Myah 6) and is experiences at making healthy snacks that are super tasty.
Ken is our Property Manager. He takes care of our buildings and landscapes. The kids love watching Ken as he is usually fixing or creating something, he has a great sense of humour and copes well under the pressure of curious children. Ken often takes small groups of children for carpentry sessions.
